EUROP, the sixth European Technology Platform in the IST area was launched on 7 October 2005 in Brussels bringing together stakeholders in the robotics field.

With the cooperation of 50 European companies and research organisations the newest European Technology Platform, EUROP, was launched on 7 October 2005. The initiative aims to boost the development of the European robotics industry and introduce the benefits of robots to serve the needs of European citizens.

EUROP's activities target three areas of the robotics field: industrial robotics, service robotics and security and space robotics. The members of EUROP intend to define the research objectives and industrial priorities of the field in order to develop and strengthen the European robotics industry and take up challenges of the ageing European society.
