TAXONOMY FEEDBACK
_
Dear Visitor,
Thank you for your interest in the IST ERA Taxonomy.

The CISTRANA project has selected a taxonomy of the ICT domain to use for presenting information about European and national ICT research programmes and to allow consistency and comparability in surveys and analyses conducted by the project. The taxonomy was originally developed for the use of the Innovation Relay Centres (established by the European Commission) and was found by the CISTRANA project to be suited to its own needs. CISTRANA is keen to promote the taxonomy more widely, as a sound basis for continuing coordination activity and for other purposes in the ICT field.

To better understand your needs, CISTRANA is in the process of assessing the use of ICT related taxonomies in European and national research activities. You may view the IST ERA taxonomy proposed by CISTRANA here. Please take a few minutes to provide us some feedback on your needs and views. (All responses will be treated anonymously). The taxonomy is a structured classification of the domain of information and communication technologies (ICT). It is organized as a hierarchy of terms that allows the precise classification of projects, research themes, publications, etc. by labeling with one or more terms from the taxonomy.

If you are interested in engaging in further discussions about the IST ERA taxonomy and its use in portals to EU RTD information, we would welcome you to attend the CISTRANA workshop "Portals for information dissemination and taxonomies for classification" to be held on 20-21 February 2006, in Abingdon (near Oxford), UK. You can register easily online. Participation at the workshop is free.

For further information about the event, please contact Simon Lambert.
